BIO for Taylor Zornes

Coach Taylor Zornes brings nearly two decades of coaching experience, a collegiate playing background, and a lifelong passion for the sport to the PSVA family. Originally from Hinsdale, Illinois, she grew up playing for the nationally recognized Sports Performance Volleyball Club, where her love for high-level volleyball took root. She earned a Division I scholarship to the University of South Alabama, where she competed from 2006 to 2009 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.

Her coaching journey began in 2007 with Mobile Storm Volleyball Club, where she coached throughout college and continued to do so when she moved to Tallahassee, FL. In Tallahassee, she served as the volunteer assistant coach during the first two seasons of Florida State University’s Beach Volleyball program while completing her Master’s in Sports Management.

Through the Tallahassee volleyball community, Taylor was introduced to Prostyle Volleyball Academy, joining the staff in 2013. From 2013-2020, she coached across multiple age groups (11u-17u), qualifying PSVA’s 16 Black team in 2018. She took a break in 2020 to start a family and focus on high school volleyball, and returned to coaching at PSVA Fall 2024. This 2025 club season, the PSVA 12-1 team won the Big South National Qualifier and earned top 5 finishes at both AAU Nationals (Premier Division) and USAV Nationals (American Division).

Taylor has been a Leon County School teacher since 2013, where she has also served as the head coach at Godby High School (2013-2015), Deerlake Middle School (2015-2019), and most recently, Lincoln High School (2019-2024), where she was named Big Bend Coach of the Year in 2023. She is currently a teacher at Deerlake Middle School where she teaches 6th grade World History.

Taylor’s coaching philosophy centers on building a strong foundation of fundamentals, developing high volleyball IQ—even at a young age—and fostering leadership, discipline, and a deep respect for teammates. Above all, she believes in cultivating a genuine love for the game that drives athletes to grow, compete, and support one another on and off the court. Taylor has a 4-year-old son, True, and 3-year-old daughter, Charlotte, and is passionate about growing the game for the next generation by fostering and environment that is challenging, competitive, and filled with joy. She loves being a part of the PSVA family cannot wait for the 2026 club season!
